Where did you complete your LLM from?
I completed my LLM from Gould School of Law, University of Southern California in the beautiful city of Los Angeles.
Did you pursue any specialization? If yes, why did you choose that?
I chose Media and Entertainment law as my specialization during my LLM because I knew it would give me an edge over my peers, I was always fascinated by/with showbizz and an LLM with a specialization is like getting the most bang for your buck.
Any advice for prospective LLM applicants for the application process?
I’d say to all/any prospective LLM students that when you chose a college, chose it basis the specialization you want to pursue and don’t run behind college rankings. Also, it’s very important to assess why you want to do an LLM and decide which country caters most to such requirement. For instance Canada is great if your looking at an LLM as a way to find a job/work abroad. USA is great for the experience, opportunities and networking. Also, apply well in advance if you want to avail good scholarships and research the hell out of the university you are applying to and try to use that information in your SOP’s.
Are you planning to give the bar exam? Any advice for that?
I did give the July 2018 bar exam but didn’t get through, will be giving it in Feb 2020 again. Bar prep in the US is like a full time job, requires complete dedication so I’d say start from day 1, do a little everyday and that will make a huge difference. It is important to understand the law to crack the bar exam as opposed to mug it up. The MCQ’s/MBE’s are extremely challenging. Also, bar prep courses are not the most sufficent, look at outside resources, seniors/JD’s students, flash cards etc.
One fond memory of the LLM Program for you.
I got to live in the city of LA, work there for a bit, go on hikes every week, be in the midst of Hollywood, watch random Hollywood starts walk into and out of grocery stores, I’ve witnessed the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets, people and beaches. So I cannot just point to one memory, it was the best time of my life and a life changing year.
