Where did you complete your LLM from?
LLM from NYU
Did you pursue any specialization? If yes, why did you choose that?
My specialization was in IP Law. I chose IP because it was already my specialization in my home country (France). I saw the LLM more as a natural continuation of my intent to grow my specialization, and an opportunity to study the American/ Anglo Saxon side of the themes that constitute my specialization (trademark law, patent law, copyright etc.).
Any advice for prospective LLM applicants for the application process?
The advice I would give is to follow your gut, and don’t do an LLM just for the title (of the school for example, for the line on a resume) but really because you think it is going to give another dimension to your life. I think these kinds of experience have so much potential to help you grow as a person, and not just build a current or future career. So I guess my advice is to never underestimate the transformational aspect of the whole LLM process – from applying to returning home.
Are you planning to give the bar exam? Or have you already given it? Any advice for that?
I don’t plan on taking the bar exam. I have the French one and that is all I need for now
One fond memory of the LLM Program for you.
One fond memory of the LLM program, re. Studies I would say the class I took (Law and literature) which was really amazing. I got to write every week about a book we had to read and the challenge was just as awesome as the reward – very enriching experience.
Re. The human connections, so many fond memories: friends I met and I still am in touch with, the feeling of a community of people all foreigners in the same country, and a personal sense of freedom that I have never quite found back at home.
